This is a modern, easily played fanfare that is especially effective when performed antiphonally.
Trumpet parts are provided in B♭ and C.
Fanfare provides a clear sense of antiphonal writing with the low brass always playing together and the trumpets performing as a unit. Showcasing fanfare rhythms, triple tonguing, meter changes, syncopation, and fast runs in the trumpets, this work ends strongly with the two choirs coming together.
Jack Gale is masterful in his approach to brass writing. Fanfare is extremely playable, although the ensemble will need to have excellent time and articulation. This piece is appropriate for high school students and beyond as it stays mostly in the staff, peaking at b-flat''.
