The Hirschman Mutes Pro Edge Pixie, a.k.a. "PEP" mute, is named in honor of the great Duke Ellington who often harmonized two plunger/pixie muted trumpets and a trombone into what was called a "pep section" (see "Rockin’ in Rhythm")

The PEP mute plays in tune across the entire trumpet range, is free-blowing, and projects with excellent volume, keeping your chops fresh while making pixie work more musical, enjoyable, and successful than ever before. Most importantly, the PEP mute has THE pixie mute sound...nasally, with a "bite" to the sound...never stuffy, never dull.  The PEP mute has a flat bottom and stands upright for quick mute changes when placed on the ground. The PEP mute pairs with your favorite plunger (we highly recommend the Hirschman Mutes KR Indigo) to deliver tasty, growling solo work and dazzling "pep section" performances.
