Commissioned by University of New Hampshire Wind Ensemble under the direction of composer Andrew Boysen, Jr., A New Hampshire Fanfare is an exciting brass feature which juxtaposes traditional triadic harmonies with contemporary textures and chords. In ternary form, the first and third sections of the work employ harmonies of fourths and fifths, while the B section of this work, based in part on the University of New Hampshire’s “Alma Mater”, provides a provides a gentle contrast. This exciting piece would make a valuable addition to any high school band’s repertoire.
