Lady in Blue – FIRST BRASS

The composer writes…

I dedicated this song to my co-producer and publisher, Marion Kaempfert who became my wife in 1990. She loved to wear cornflower blue and had a collection of stunning evening dresses in that colour. One on them, a beautiful sequin dress, inspired me for the bell-like introduction played by 8 trumpets with harmon mutes. Bart van Lier’s performance of the solo trombone theme completed the piece to perfection.

Flugelhorns have an optional divisi in the coda if extra players are available
