Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 was written between 1893 and 1896. It is his longest piece and is the longest symphony in the standard repertoire, with a typical performance lasting between 90 and 105 minutes. The excerpt here is quite short in compariosn and is taken from the last section marked Langsam—Ruhevoll—Empfunden (“Slow. Calm. Deeply felt”)
