Des pas sur la neige, Prelude 8 from Book 1 (1909 – 1910). Perhaps the most famous prelude – inspired by an ancient Scottish poem.

• Trumpet 1 in B♭ may be played on Flugelhorn
• Trumpet 2 in B♭ (doubles on Piccolo Trumpet)
• Horn
• Trombone
• Tuba
