The Huron Indian Carol

The Huron Carol (or, "Twas the Moon in Wintertime), is Canada’s oldest Christmas hymn.  It was composed in 1643 by Jesuit missionary Jean de Brébeuf.  He composed lyrics in the native language of the Huron people; the original title was "Jesous Ahatonhia" (Jesus, he is Born).  Today, it is commonly sung with English lyrics that were Jess Edgar Middleton in 1926.
