The Backwaters of Kerala

The composer writes…

In November 2011 I took an overnight boat excursion on the famous Kerala “Backwaters”, a chain of lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea in southern India. This area was named one of the `50 destinations of a lifetime’ by National Geographic Traveler, with the kettuvallams (Kerala houseboats) as the prominent tourist attraction.

I fondly recall my time on the Backwaters and this composition reflects my impressions of that most enjoyable trip.

This piece is grade 5 due to the quarter tone effects that emulate the sound of the sitar.
