Dies Irae

“Dies Irae” (Day of Wrath) is best known from its use as a sequence in the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass (Mass for the Dead or Funeral Mass).

Commissioned anonymously by Count Franz von Walsegg and left unfinished at the time of Mozart’s death, the Requiem mass in D minor has been the stuff of legend for centuries.
