Flexible Fanfares

Flexible Fanfares For Four Trumpets” is a collection of 13 inventive and solid-sounding fanfares in various styles, tempos and durations for the reasonbly accomplished trumpet ensemble. Some of these fanfares may be truncated with optional pauses, and some may be extended, depending on the requirements of the situation being fanfared. They number from six to twelve measures in length.

Several of these fanfares work very well in two parts, if only two performers are budgeted for (or only two players remember to show up or who don’t get lost finding the gig). These duo-friendly fanfares also have extensions into four parts for when all players are present.

The trumpet parts are all for the same key of trumpet and would not require a great deal of rehearsal. The top written note is B above the staff, the lowest written note is Bb below the staff.

This collection of fanfares was written and performed for the opening of the National Constitution Center in Philadlephia, Pennsylvania in 2003.
