Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni (8 June 1671 – 17 January 1751) was an Italian Baroque composer. Though celebrated in his day primarily as an opera composer, he is best remembered today for his instrumental works—particularly his concertos and sonatas.
Perhaps the piece most closely associated with his name is the haunting Adagio, heard here in an arrangement inspired by the iconic 1978 recording by Maurice André and Jane Parker-Smith.
