Après un rêve (After a Dream)

"Après un rêve" (Op. 7, No. 1) is one of Faure's most popular vocal pieces, here arranged for Trumpet and Organ.  In "Après un rêve" is a dream of romantic flight with a lover, away from the earth and "towards the light". Upon awakening, the dreamer longs to return to the "mysterious night" of his dream.

Faure's "Apres un Rive" features a beautiful melody that sings over continuously moving eighth notes in the right hand of the organ and chords in the left hand. With clear phrase markings, thoughtful dynamics that start and end the piece softly, and clear climatic moments, this arrangement is absolutely stunning. The music includes an optional tacet for the trumpeter if more rest is desired. Parts for both B-flat and C trumpet are included.
