Fanfares of Madrid

Italian-born Domenico Scarlatti spent much of his career serving the royal courts of Portugal and Spain. His Sonata in E Major, K. 380, originally written for keyboard, evokes the ceremonial sounds of court life through stately rhythms, repeated notes, and ringing fanfare figures. In this brass quintet arrangement, those musical gestures take on a natural brilliance, bringing the suggestion of trumpets directly into the concert hall. Graceful melodic passages balance the ceremonial flourishes, giving the music both dignity and charm.

Trumpet parts provided in B♭ and C.
