Serenade

In the 1700s, a serenade was a work performed outdoors on a summer evening, and was usually written for a particular listener. In the case of this particular Serenade, the melody, somewhat introspective in nature, suggests images of the performers in an old style gazebo singing to a crowd of friends sitting on the lawn sipping and lemonade.
