The WG CONE TONE trombone plunger is co-designed by Hirschman Mutes and one of the world’s foremost plunger players, Wycliffe Gordon. The mute’s name is inspired by Wycliffe’s nickname, “Pinecone”. This mute is narrower and shallower than the BIG BLUE, with a contour reminiscent of the plungers used by classic trombonists from yesteryear. This is designed primarily as a soloist’s mute, whereas the Big Blue shines in section work.
