The four hymns in this collection are entirely new settings of some of the most widely-known of modern hymns. "Eternal Father, Strong to Save," (also known as the "Navy Hymn") is sung to the tune "Melita," composed by prolific hymn composer, John B. Dykes (1823-1876). Some hymnals use this tune for the texts, "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less," "O Lord, You Died That All Might Live," "O Master of the Waking World," and many others. Certainly among the most popular hymns in the English language, John Newton's poem, "Amazing Grace," is sung to the tune "New Britain," which appeared in several early nineteenth-century American hymn books. George J. Webb (1803-1887) composed the familiar tune now known as "Webb, "for a musical show on a ship crossing the Atlantic. The tune is now known and loved with the words "Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus," but is sung with many other hymns as well. The oldest hymn in this collection is "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name" to the tune, "Coronation," by Oliver Holden (1765-1844).
