Hänsel and Gretel are hungry and lost in the woods, and darkness has fallen.  Before falling asleep they say an evening prayer, asking for protection during the night. Based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale.

Arranged for flugelhorn or C trumpet, Humperdinck's "Evening Prayer" from Hansel and Gretel showcases an exquisite, yet simple, melody in the brass that intertwines with the organ, which plays a much larger melodic role in this arrangement. An optional horn part is included and adds tremendous beauty to the overall work as the harmonies enhance the line of the flugelhorn. The piece is marked "Lento" and opens and closes with a lovely organ feature.
